Paschal candle: Easter at The Immaculata

This is the day which the Lord has made: let us rejoice and be glad in it. 

Christ is risen, Alleluia!

The light of the paschal candle shines through the darkness representing Christ's resurrection overcoming the darkness of the tomb. Our hand painted candle at The Immaculata was made by 12 of the SMA senior girls' fine art students and features the current year of 2024, the Greek alpha and omega signifying that God is the beginning and the ending of all things, as well as iconic scenes of the apparitions of Our Lord after His resurrection. The Holy Trinity (Hospitality of Abraham) contemplating the Redemption of mankind surmounts the candle, underneath lies the Resurrection; below the cross are the Holy Women at the Tomb, the meeting of Our Lord and His Mother, the Apostles (with Thomas) visited in the upper room.  On the back top to bottom is depicted the Ascension, noli me tangere, the Fishermen's breakfast and the supper at Emmaus.
